Jinhua Liu

Dr. Jinhua Liu is director of the key laboratory of avian influenza, college of veterinary medicine, China Agricultural University (Beijing) and serves as the chairman of the Branch of Avian Epidemiology of Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (CAAV). His research emphasis in avian influenza, particularly the epidemiology and molecular epidemiology, and pathogenicity mechanism of avian influenza virus. He was the first to identify H5N1 viruses in migratory birds in Qinghai Lake in 2005. His works also includes tracing the epidemic trends of H9N2 and H5N1 viruses in China and discovering the evolution of the single H9N2 influenza genotype that facilitated the genesis of the novel H7N9 virus. His researches have been published in Science, Nature Microbiology, PNAS, Plos Pathogens, Emerging Infectious Diseases, Journal of Virology, etc. Dr. Liu is the Chief scientist of the innovation team of prevention and control of zoonotic infectious diseases in the Ministry of Agriculture.
